How do we recognise a child is hyperactive?

ADHD- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (Hyperactive Child)

ADHD normally occurs up to the age of 12.

Children can be very active, lack concentration, or be aggressive – all with different reasons for their behaviour.

Unfortunately, often, children who are active, curious and sociable are incorrectly considered to suffer from ADHD.
Children who are active in a normal way are stimulating neuronal activity in their brain. Moving the head and upper body increases cerebral oxygenation, for example.

Nowadays, children do not normally have enough space to develop creativity, be physically active, and increasing pressure at school demands a high level of self-control in small children. However, there may be different reasons for the different behaviour of these children. Children who are hyperactive, are not necessarily aggressive, they may even be introverted, day-dreaming , exhibiting calm or observant behaviour.

Scientifically-speaking ADHD is a genetically supported neurobiological disturbance. In some kids we find the hyperkinetic problem is more obvious, in others lack of concentration, and in others – both.

Some children are day dreamers, but we should recognise that, in many cases, very intelligent children are simply labelled as sick children instead of investigating reasons and stimulating their longing for attention and learning.

In many cases children have a least one parent with the same problem:

  • Genetic disposition does not necessarily lead to ADHD.
  • Certain circumstances can cause the problem to arise:
  • Social environment (family, parents, friends, school)
  • Environmental problems (electromagnetic disturbances, living close to power-lines)
  • Intoxication (drinking-water, living-area, fungus/humidity in the house, metal-teeth and food)
  • Allergies (food, water, preservatives, worms, phosphorus)
  • Lack of contemplation (increases when regularly exercising memory, social consciousness and emotional balance)

Unfortunately, children considered to be suffering from ADHD are most often not examined properly and professionally and are treated too quickly with "Ritalin", a synthetic drug with many side effects.

To generate a diagnosis of ADHD is complex and requires collaboration between pediatricians, psychologists, parents and, as mentioned above, special tests to exclude external influences that can lead to an incorrect wrong diagnosis!

Ritalin is a drug. Too many children are treated with drugs and unconsciously they carry the stigma for their whole lives. For example, in the USA young men who were treated with Ritalin during their childhood are not allowed to enter the army! Ritalin damages the brain, by decreasing cerebral circulation, inhibiting neurotransmitters and causing effects similar to cocaine.

Interruption of treatment with Ritalin can cause even worse symptoms to appear manifest themselves.
It is considerably better to exclude first external influences such as intoxications, irregular behaviours, inconsequent and unfair education, and increase emotional support, rituals, routine, positive stimulation, healthy nutrition.

Parents and children must work together with professional therapists and teachers:

  • There are homeopathic remedies to re balance a hyperactive child, also Bach remedy flowers can help.
  • Change of nutrition by excluding allergy-causing products and regular meals.
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Scientific methods calm suffering children without inhibiting their creativity and spontaneity.
  • There are special tests to detect intoxication e.g. hair-mineral analysis, saliva tests and so on that do not require physical intervention and are harmless for the children.

We should not forget that these children classified as ADHD children really are suffering!
Their behaviour is provocative and they get punished for something for which they are not guilty!

ADHD is a modern diagnosis; Ritalin is a drug for children who are not guilty!
